Tips for Choosing the Right Lip Gloss Colour to Use

When it comes time to wear a lip gloss, do you have a go-to one that you love? How did you decide to purchase it while in the store? Did the colour stick out to you or did you find it in a clearance bin? When it comes to choosing lip gloss colours, it is important that you spend some time looking for the right one.  Not all colours will work for everyone and not all brands are ideal for your skin type.

Tips For Choosing The Right Lip Balm

1. Application is Important

When you start to choose your lip gloss colour, think about the application of the lip gloss itself. Do you like to use a wand, roll-on, or do you prefer the lip gloss to be in a pot? These are things you need to think about before choosing one. You want to love the applicator, otherwise, you may never even reach for your lip gloss because you hate the way you need to apply it.

2. Glitter? Super Glossy?

There are a multitude of options for your lip gloss colour and accents. You can choose from lip gloss that is light on the shine, heavy on shine, or even contains glitter. This choice is up to you and really it comes down to what you like.

3. Short-Term or Long-Term

Do you want your lip gloss to last all day or do you simply not mind performing touch ups throughout the day? Lip gloss itself will only last a couple of hours on your lips and you may need to dig into your purse to reapply it. If this does not bother you, then you are free to choose any gloss, but if it does bother you, consider purchasing a lip gloss that comes with a stain in it or you can apply lipstick and then gloss over top.

4. Know Your Colours

Have you ever put on a lip gloss colour and instantly hated it?  You probably did not like it because it did not match your skin tone very well. It happens, but knowing which colours work for you will help make the decision easier next time. For example, if you have an olive to tan skin tone, you want to avoid yellow based colours as they will make you look washed out. You should head for some beautiful blue based tones.

5. Protect Your Lips at the Same Time?

Some lip glosses come with SPF built right into them and this is a great option for anyone who spends a lot of time on the beach or out in the sun. If you are indoors all day, it may not matter as much to you, but if you do plan to be outside, try to pick up a shade with at least 15 SPF. If you are looking for the right lip gloss for your lips, consider the tips above. When you start to think about the type you want, you will be able to easily eliminate the ones that are not right for you.
